I am very far from being Christian. I have no particular religious beliefs myself, and was raised Jewish. So it amuses me that I am so fascinated and that I love crosses. Particularly old victorian gothic crosses, they are so beautiful to me. The intricate designs, the bold colors, just beautiful!
I realy enjoy making them myself. The wire wrapping is almost soothing, I love wrapping a straight piece of wire
A challenge I posed to myself was to make one that if I was religous, that I wouldn't mind wearing myself. So that meant SMALL. All of the jewelry I wear myself is small and dainty. I also figured that this would be a great way to use up some of the shorter pieces of wire in my scrap bin. The result was a realy cute tiny cross, about the size of a quarter. If I was religious I would definately wear this myself.

Valentine Challenge

The wonderful website jewelrylessons.com had a great challenge for Valentines day. I thought this would be perfect for me since many of my designs have hearts in them (that's what inspired the name Heart to Hearts). Luckily there was no limit to how many pieces we could submit, I don't think I would ever be able to narrow it down to just one. Here is what I came up with

Lace Heart Earrings
I love the look of adding the chain to the outer edge. To me it makes it feel like lace. This was my first attempt at adding chain like this and it was a bit of a challenge, it took me quite a few tries to get it to look right

Double Heart Earrings
What's a Valentine design withought some beautiful reds? Garnet is quickly becomming my favorite stone, the dark rich red is so beautiful to me. Two hearts come together in these earrings to form one beautiful design, the perfect symbol of love

Filigree Heart Earrings
These actualy started as something completely different. I made the basic heart frames a while ago and they were sitting around waiting for some more inspiration. The S components were left over from another project and seemed to fit nicely with the hearts. And of course some lovely garnet

Swirly Heart Pendant
I didn't want to make them all earrings :)
My intention with this was actualy just to make the teardrop frame with just the heart in it, very simple. But when it was done I felt like it needed something more to it.

My Little Helpers

Anyone who has pets knows that they are a crucial part of jewelry making. Especialy cats.

I have two girls that help me tremendously when I'm working with my wire and beads. My big girl, Bellatrix helps me make sure nothing ever falls on the floor. Many beads have been lost to this skilled hunter. The sound of a falling bead brings her running. She finds them and bats them all around the apartment. Much blood has been shed trying to retrieve the beads from her grip. So now extra measures are taken to make sure nothing ever hits the floor.

Peanut is a whole different story. This little monster is sneakier. When I'm doing some repetative wire wrapping and working with a long piece of wire I like to get comfy on the couch with it. That means of course that there is a Peanut in my lap. She has helped me make sure that the wire I'm working with is not too long. If it is, it will end up being a chew toy, or something to bat around and pull out of my hands

So thank you my wonderful girls for helping me with my wire and bead work. I couldn't do it without you

It begins

So it seems like blogging is the way to go now. So I jump on the bandwagon, it wouldn't be the first one. It seems nowadays that you're nobody until you have a blog, so here we go!
