He remembered

Hubbs came home with flowers. He remembered, what a good boy. Yesterday was the second anniversary of our large family wedding. I was wondering if he would forget. September will be the third anniversary of our actual marriage in Las Vegas. I can't believe it's been that short of a time, it feels like we've been together forever.

Something complex

This was the most complex thing I have created up to date. The wrapping in the center was done and redone many times. Each of the arms was measured bent, measured again, rebent sometimes broken and started anew. I gave up on it twice. But I'm glad I finished it. It came out pretty big though, it would be a big bold piece to wear. Now that I have the technique figured out, I might try to make a smaller one.

I realy don't know why I like making crosses so much, I'm not even Christian. But I think they're beautiful.

Borrowing Earrings

My cousin's wedding is in a few weeks. Her mother, my aunt wanted to see what earrings I had that she could borrow for the day. I was told her dress was green so I made these not knowing anything about what shade of green or what style her dress was. These were pretty much the only green beads I had. She liked them but ended up choosing a completely different pair with pearls instead of green.
I also made a very similar pair to this one with amethyst instead for my mother and her purple to use the citrine beads I just got to make a pair for myself

Sweet Simplicity

In order to try to attract more traffic to my etsy shop I've created a few sets of earrings that are simple and less expensive. I'll be selling them for $10 a pair. Hopefully the mix of simple and innexpensive will work well with the more complex and pricey stuff.

a small milestone

I checked my hearts this morning and I broke a hundred!! YAY. I know that's no big deal for some, as many people have thousands of hearts...but I was excited to see 100 this morning

Matching Set

I can't get enough of my garnets. Those beautiful deep red beads and my rich purple amethyst beads are my favorite. I love how both of these dark rich gemstones look with pearls.

I've been wanting to make a pendant for a while. I've been making so many earrings lately and I wanted a bit of a change. So, I made my first matching set. A pendant to go with these Victorian earrings. I'm debating on whether I should list these together or not

Apartment Hunting

Since hubby got his new job we've been quite comfortable with our money situation and have begun to look for a new two bedroom apartment. We're looking in the neighboring towns to where we both work even though it's pretty far from my parents, and I would like to stay somewhat close to them. Yesterday we went to look at a few places. The first place we saw I absolutely loved. The development was big beautiful clean and brand new. The apartments were big and bright, had a big kitchen big closets and bathrooms, and it was the cheapest place we saw. And it was waterfront! The only downside was that right outside the entrance to the development was...well...a ghetto. The development has security so I don't know how big of an issue that would be.

The second place we saw was a block from my office. It too was a nice new development. We had keys to three model apartments to look at but ran out of there after looking at the first one. We opened the door and almost ran out before even stepping foot into the apartment, but figured we should at least look at the place. I guess they used an apartment that someone just moved out of to use as a model, but ugh it was horrible. There was literally garbage all over the floors, and broken furniture crammed into the master bedroom. There were dozens of roach traps all over the floor...and the smell! I felt like I needed to take a shower after being in there. I can't imagine a place letting people see an apartment like that. The previous places we went to had their model apartment fully furnished and decorated. That's not completely necessary but at least have it be clean!

The third place we went to was a little on the old side. But it had great parking, was pretty close to work and what I liked was that it was secure. There is a main outer door. We only got to see one model, but it was very nice and bright with a descent sized kitchen big bathrooms, but not so much closet was also the most expensive place we saw.

We have some more places we want to go next week too. We still have a lot of time before we want to actually move but we had fun looking at places and getting an idea of what to expect for now. I still really really really loved that first place we saw

Hubs did good

Our life at home revolves around our coffee table. It's a cheap piece of crap that we bought on clearance in some crappy little discount furniture store. Actualy I think it wasn't even a table but a small shelf unit that we jus use as a table. But anyway, our life at home basicaly centers around this table. We eat dinner on it and we do our crafts on it. Now hubs has a great tray for his painting, it's big and has a couple levels on it and when we need to clear the table off he can just pick up the tray and bam, his side of the table is clean. So a few weeks ago I mentioned that it would be easier if I had a tray too instead of just covering the table in scraps of wire and then sweeping it all into a shoebox when we needed to clear the table. I'd also been looking for a better method of keeping finished earrings than hanging them on that white mug. So this is what he made me. I love it! It doesn't show in the picture but there's also space on the sides for my pliers and cutters (and the tray is actualy a breakfast in bed tray so it has foldable legs on it...I'm thinking wire-wrapping in bed)

there's just one teeny tiny itsy bitsy problem with it and it's nothing he could have known about. The dowels are just slightly too large for the ear hooks so all those earrings are hanging quite snug. It's no big deal realy, from now on I'll just use the scrap piece of that dowel as a mandril to shape earwires when I make them.

April Fools!

A lot of people like to get into the sprirt of April Fool's day and play jokes on each other. But I was wondering what the origin of it's what I found

The origin of April Fools' Day is obscure. One likely theory is that the modern holiday was first celebrated soon after the adoption of the Gregorian Calendar. The term referred to someone still adhering to the Julian Calendar In many pre-Christian(May 1) was celebrated as the first day of summer, and signalled the start of the spring planting season. An April Fool was someone who did this prematurely. Another origin is that April 1 was counted the first day of the year in France. When King Charles IX changed that to January 1, some people stayed with April 1. Those who did were called "April Fools" and were taunted by their neighbors. In the eighteenth century the festival was often posited as going back to the times of Noah An English newspaper article published on April 13th, 1789 said that the day had its origins when he sent the raven off too early, before the waters had receded. He did this on the first day of the Hebrew month that corresponds with April.

Of course April Fools day is also great becuase it's my birthday
