This past Friday was our three year Vegas wedding anniversary. To celebrate we took a weekend trip. We drove 5 hours up to Rochester NY to visit an old victorian cemetery. It was a great day, we walked around for hours, took tons of pictures, got a bit of a tour from a historian. And the weather was absolutely perfect. Mostly cloudy so no bright sun, and the temperature was perfect, around 60. Unfortunately on Sunday it rained so we couldn't go to the apple festival like we had planned but I think that turned out for the best since there was so much road construction on the way home, it added another 3 hours to our trip.

I'm going through all of our memory cards, will have some pictures soon

What a difference

Originally uploaded by Heart to Heart
What a big difference the new camera makes. With this new camera I can adjust the white balance which I think makes all the difference in the world. I like the clean white background in this picture. It really makes the beautiful shade of blue in these apatite teardrop really POP. I've had these tiny beads for a while, but had trouble making anything with them because of how small they were. more than once when I was stringing them and twisting the wire, the top of the bead would break off ruining it.

Now it is officialy fall, my favorite time of year! It's already starting to get cooler. I get to wear my cozy sweater in the morning, and the leaves are just starting to change. Yep, defintaely my favorite time of the year. I love the weather, where it's not so cold that you can't do anything, but just cold enough to wear a cozy sweater or hoodie. And I love the cold air at night, and cuddling under a warm blanket with hubby and the kitties. And of course the food! We've already had our first pumpkin pie of the season and this weekend we're thinking about going apple picking and buying lots of cider.

A new venture

We're finaly doing something we've been talking about for a while. I'm creating another etsy shop. This one will feature things from my husband. He is a good photographer and really loves taking pictures. I've been talking to him for a while about Etsy, and he finaly decided to try to sell some of his prints. And what's interesting is that most of his pictures come from a hobby of ours. The pictures are mostly of cemeteries. We love going to cemeteries to look at the beautiful stones and statues. It's a great calming and relaxing place to be. He's also going to be listing items from another hobby we shar. Tarot readings. He's much better than I am, and will be listing online tarot readings too. To round out the shop I will be contributing some similarly themed jewelry. Things with wiccan symbols like pentagrams. I've already created a few pieces for the shop.
The only thing we're having trouble with is coming up with a name for the new shop. Anyone have any ideas?

By the way, how do the pictures look? We bought a new digital camera. It's a super fancy one. It's the closest a digital camera can be to being an SLR without the insane price tag. I love it

More thread earrings

Originally uploaded by Heart to Heart
I've learned a new technique to making the thread earrings that makes them look much neater. Before I was tying off the thread on the sides of the frames and I didn't like how it looked, there was always a knot visible. But now I learned how to start and stop the colors without any knots showing and how to make the spacing in the wire more even. So, I've been making these earrings like crazy. These are my favorite pair so far. Autumn colors for my favorite time of year. And I love these metalic threads. They sparkle.

Behind the Scenes

When you see this:I see this:
Taken from Ponder and Stitch
It's nothing really special. A photobox I stole from my uncle, a white mug (with a Star Trek logo on the other side of it) and a few pages of scrapbook paper, all on my dining room table. Sometimes I substitute one of my cobalt wine glasses, or a clear glass and a different page of scrapbook paper. I wish I had more time to take pictures in the daylight, but with work, it doesn't really happen. Anyone else want to share their behind the scenes?

Jersey Fresh

One of the thing my state is famous for is Jersey tomatoes. Today I tasted them at their best. Just down the road from my complex is a farmer's market. I pass it every day on the way to work and I always think to myself that one day I'd like to stop in to see what they have. Today I finaly did. I was having a craving for a tomato sandwich and I wanted to see what kind they had. They had so many different kinds, kinds I've never seen before, colors I've never seen before (tomatoes come in colors other than red, who knew) I picked up three heirloom tomatoes to taste. I have to say that these tomatoes were the ugliest and most expensive tomatoes that I've ever bought. o man were they tasty!!!! I've experienced such tomato flavor. FANTASTIC!!

Secret Wall Tattoos

I found out about this when someone posted a link on the Etsy message board. Have you heard about secret wall tattoos, hidden pieces of artwork in hotels, restrooms, and other public places? It's impossible to know how many public spaces have been decorated with artwork ranging from simplistic patterns to ornate modern art since they remain hidden until the picture or mirror covering them is moved. Secret wall tattoos are considered by many artists to be a subversive way of changing the world around them, even though their art might not be seen for a very long time. Of course some view these as vandalism along the lines of graffiti. Next time I'm in a hotel I have to remember to check for a secret work of art.

It's about time

I should have done it a while ago, but I finaly created a facebook fan page,HERE. So please add me or become a fan or whatever the word for it is, I still haven't figured it all out yet so bear with me please.

And as you might have noticed I've been playing with the blog layout. I don't know if I'm completely happy with this one, but I like the simple style as well as the three column layout. Idealy I'd love to have some kind of nice swirl border around the entries, but I don't know if I could do that. But I like this one for now.

more string

Lately my muse has been with these thread earrings. Since getting my new wire I've tried to make some more of the wire filligree earrings but I just wasn't feeling it. So for now I guess I'll stick with these thread designs. I'm enjoying exploring color and shapes with these. I'm trying now to do them in different shaped frames to see what kind of different effects the thread will give. These are teardrops and I love the results. I'm working on some fun color combinations, including some holiday combinations like orange and black, and red and green. Pictures of those soon.
