steampunk

This is something completely different for me, but I LOVE it! A steampunk style bracelet. It's made with a beautiful piece of antique bronze filigree which I bent to give it a curved shape. The center, I made myself, settting the tiny clock gears into place by hand. I have a few more ideas for some different styles too.

I made it myself

In my last entry I talked about getting an every day ring. I've never done it before but I actually made one! I like how it came out. Amethyst which is my favorite, silver, and it's slim so it's great for every day.

The only trouble I was having was with the size. I actually already had a ring mandrel with different sizes on it. At first I started off making the ring the exact size I thought I needed, but then when I was done it was way too tiny. It took a couple of trials and a lot of wire but I got it to where I can wear it, though it is a tiny bit too big for the finger I want it on.

My concern with a wire ring ws that it wouldn't be strong enough to keep it's shape with wear, but so far it's been a couple of days and it's still round, and comfortable.

I've been thinking of posting some rings in the shop but I really think it would be tricky with the wide range in sizes.

Tiny adorable things

I've been looking for some small dainty rings. Something simple that I can wear every day in addition to my wedding and engagement ring (though I haven't been wearing either recently because my wedding ring is loosing stones)

I found these amazing little adorable rings that I just had to share...and perhaps for hubbs to get a hint or two

plus these super cute tiny earrings. These would be perfect for one of the many holes in my head (four in each ear)

oops

You know, I never posted on my birthday. I guess that was my April Fools joke on myself or something....yes, I'm an April Fool's baby. Turned 27 this year, getting close to the big 30 eek. But enough about that, I need to talk about the important things, like the presents!!!

Hubbs thought it would be "cute" to show me a magazine article for a video game that doesn't come out untill the mid summer as my gift....hahah, wait, I don't get it. I don't play video games. Nice try hun, still waiting

The big deal was what I bought my self, with contributions from various gift cards, a check from my grandparents and inlaws, and "permission" from hubbs was this baby:
Yes, I bought myself an iPod touch!!!! It's like the best thing ever! Basicaly an iPhone but without the ability to make phone calls....so pretty much exactly like an iPhone LOL. I love this thing so much. So far I have no complaints at all. The battery life is good, the sound quality is fantastic, the video quality is equally as good, and come on, APPS!!!! So many cool, useless, fun (and some actually useful) apps to download!

Big project

I've been working on a big project....retaking all of my jewelry photos. I still don't think they're all that fantastic, but hopefully they're better. I learned a few tricks on Photoshop, and a few tricks with the white balance on my camera, so hopefully they come out better. At the very least, I think they're more fun....

so here are a few before and afters

Not Quite Finished

I've been working on the granny square blanket, it's tedious and slow work joining all the squares but it's coming along. However I have one small problem....

So while it's not quite finished yet, it is kitty approved, which is a very important thing
And as you can also see, not only has she clained he unfinished granny blanket, but she's also on a SECOND blanket that she got all bunched up (that pink purple bit under her paws). What a greedy little kitty, lucky for her she's so cute!
